A custom watercolour painting of two black Labrador dogs sitting on grass

Here is a watercolour portrait of a pair of black Labrador dogs I completed last week.The painting is for a returning customer as a memory of the two dogs, Drummer and Buddy who are sadly no longer here. The portrait is A3 size and taken from a photo with them standing a little further apart than in the portrait. I arranged the composition to get them to fit better onto one portrait. I started by sketching out the composition, and painting the grass background first. I then used masking fluid to screen some of the grass in front of the body areas before painting in the black, gradually adding more detail of the fur and grass areas.

Custom sketch of a US timber house

A sketch of a timber house I drew for a client in the USA. House sketches are often ordered in digital format only because the client wants to print the sketch themselves for a specific purpose, or use the sketch in digital format on a business website for example.
With a sketch drawing style the details can be drawn much looser and quicker than a full highly details pencil drawing, It all depends on the purpose of the drawing and personal preference. Sketches do not lack detail; they are simply drawn to suggest detail with enough dark line or white space to suggest what is there in reality. The balcony for example with very simple line but it is enough to show the structure.

The planting in both the image above and below need just enough detail to suggest the form, light and shadow but not too much that it distracts from the house itself.

Wildlife prints now available

Wildlife prints of British wildlife.

My first set of wildlife prints are now available for purchase online. I've chosen to use Fine Art America because they offer a great range of print options including framing. Prints will be shipped from the USA which is ideal for buying from the US, and European customers can expect delivery times of only 10 days. I'll be integrating this store into my own website here in the coming days but in the meantime maybe take a quick look at the wildlife prints currently available here

For local customers I'll soon be opening a store targeted specifically at European buyers. I'll be posting updates of that first on my Facebook page here:
