How to order a portrait
|
1. Send me your photos
The first step is to send me your photos by email. I can work from several photos if necessary to bring for example, several people or animals together into one portrait montage.
2. Choose your portrait style and size
Choose what style of portrait you want; either watercolour, graphite pencil or modern sketch. Any size is possible but popular sizes are Standard 21x30cm, Large 25x30cm, or Extra Large 30x40cm.
3. Draft Compositon
I'll then prepare a digital composition to show you how the portrait arrangement will look at your chosen size. If you're happy with the draft I'll start work on the original portrait.
4. Completion and Payment
Once a portrait is completed I'll email you a scan of the finished portrait to get your feedback. At that stage minor adjustments can be made on the portrait if necessary until you are completely happy with the result. Only then will we can arrange payment, usually via PayPal.

Portrait Styles
Custom Sketch
My sketch style is looser than my drawing style and I find it works well particularly for sketches of buildings and houses. A popular theme at the moment is wedding venues, either sketched as a 1st anniversary gift for a partner, or at the planning stage to use the sketch on wedding stationary, invitations or accessories.
Pencil Drawing
Drawings are often overlooked when considering a portrait commission but the level of detail that can be achieved with the right techniques is quite impressive.
My drawing style tends towards photorealism which creates a portrait of your family, animal or building which is both immediately recognisable and entirely unique.
Watercolour Painting
I use watercolour for portrait paintings of animals (cats, dogs, pets) and for paintings of buildings and houses.
I always start animal portraits for example with the eyes and then work outwards because the eyes are the key to capturing their character.
